I don’t know about you guys, but when my children were two years old, they weren’t exactly what I would call “easy to work with.” 😉 As a family photographer, I love working with children of all ages, but two-year-olds have to be the hardest to photograph. They’re usually pretty willful and aren’t typically keen to follow directions or really stay in one place longer than .35 seconds. If your two-year-old is like that, please feel secure in knowing that your child is absolutely normal! Two-year-old’s photo sessions are always a lot of work, but they’re also super fun, and there’s a lot of laughter involved!
The photos I’m going to share below are of a completely atypical two-year-old. I had photographed her when she turned one and remembered her being an absolutely extraordinary little girl then. Her mom had brought five outfits for her then, all of which she had happily donned, and she brought five outfits for her again. For those of you who have ever tried to wrestle a two-year-old into one single outfit, the thought of trying to change your child into 5 (completely different) outfits in a 2-hour period would (rightly) seem ridiculous… and even a bit masochistic. I may have even said something like, “ok, we’ll try!” Off we went…
Outfit change #1 – Oh, we’re just warming up…
Yes, after they arrived, she was changed out of one outfit and into this one.
The bows on her tights! LOVE!
Outfit change #2 – Do they make this dress in my size?
I know you’re already overwhelmed by her cuteness, but I’m just going to keep going…
Outfit change #3 – Nailed it.
I could cry by how much I loved that dress and that hat on her!!
Outfit change #4 – This is when I learned that two-year-olds think singing the Alphabet Song was just as fun as opening presents on Christmas morning.
“Oh Miss Becky, you keep singing, and I’ll keep smiling!”
Outfit change #5 – I know, I know, your jaw is on the floor, right?
Outfit change #5.5 (adding a coat and going outside definitely constitutes as a partial outfit change.)
So there you have it! Just about the cutest, sweetest two-year-old in the world ever (except for mine and yours, of course!).
