The start of every new year for me represents a huge shift from outdoor photography to studio photography sessions. Winter just isn’t the time of year that families are scrambling to take outdoor photos. I get it! It’s cold and often rainy. Though there are beautiful evergreen trees and tall grasses around in winter, most families prefer the flowers of the spring and summer or the brilliant color of the fall foliage.
Luckily, I’m able to take advantage of my in-home studio in the winter to capture families, newborns and baby sessions in a cozy environment for studio photography. Whether you missed the fall season and still wish to capture your children’s portraits before they grow any more, your baby is turning one, or you’re due over the winter, my photography studio offers plenty of options for variety in your indoor photo sessions.
Here are some Pinterest-worthy boards of my sessions this winter to inspire you for your future studio photography sessions.
Sisters Studio Photography
These two sisters are so photogenic! I had to create several Pinterest boards from their session to highlight their different outfit changes and painting-worthy expressions during this session.
The photos above and below showcase my new Stikwood wall in my studio, which offers a new backdrop option for your studio photography session.
I had envisioned the above image BEFORE mom showed up with dresses for her girls with stars on them. Amazing! The younger sister wasn’t comfortable climbing the ladder, but we got it with the older one! Just a fun little fantasy image mixed in with the rest of their studio photography session.
Traditional Vignette Photography
Here’s another something new and different for me! The mother of these beautiful sisters reached out to see if I could do a traditional vignette black and white portraits. She sent me a couple examples, and I knew without a doubt I could. How did I do?
Of course, we did regular studio photography as well!
High School Senior Portraits
I had a blast capturing these senior portraits with an edgier look for a new client, who brought her Samoyed dog along. I took his “senior portraits,” too! LOL.
First Birthday Studio Photography
And back to babies! This sweetie just turned one! We captured both her portraits and those of the whole family during their winter studio photography session.
