I went to the funeral of one of my former bosses last week. He was such a kind man with a joyful heart. He left this world much too soon. Though the funeral brought tears, it was also quite the celebration of his life and accomplishments, and the long drive to and from gave me plenty of time to reflect on my own.
As I milled about with my former colleagues and told them how “the photography business” is going, it felt so great to tell them that all is going remarkably well. I am loving life. That’s not to say my life isn’t full of crazy and that there are no longer any struggles or cause for anxiety, but after working for years and years to get to where I am, I still feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and deep peace in my soul that I am where I am supposed to be.
One of my many blessings is that I get to celebrate life many times a week, and not just when I’m behind the camera. I receive wonderful emails from people who share with me the news that they’re expecting, and they couldn’t wait to tell someone (even if a perfect stranger). Others send notes that they are thrilled that their baby is finally coming home from the NICU. Such wonderful reminders of the miracle and fragility of life and great cause for celebration!
Little Sebastian is a gift that his parents yearned and waited for over many years. He positively lit up for his newborn photo session. You may even lose count of the number of smiles he gave us!
Thank you for allowing me to celebrate your lives with you! I have such a great time recording these memories for your families!
If you’d like to schedule a session, please contact me 4-6 months prior to your preferred session date. As of today, 4/29/14, I have one session left in mid-August, and then some weekdays open from mid-September and beyond. There are only a few weekend sessions left this year – in November and December.
